Adult safeguarding agencies contacts

All the following agencies work closely together to safeguard adults.

If you are concerned that someone is being abused or harmed, please use these contacts.

The advice and referral team (ART)

The ART team will discuss your safeguarding concerns, give you advice and take referrals: 

  • Telephone: 01432 260715 (weekdays 9am-5pm)
  • Secure email: safeguarding@herefordshire.gov.uk 
  • Out of hours (emergency) contact number for referrals: 0330 123 9309 (after 5pm, weekends and public holidays)

Emergencies

If someone is injured or in immediate danger: 

  • Telephone: 999 - police, fire, ambulance

Police

To report abuse when there is no immediate emergency (for example, you have witnessed an incident)

Care Quality Commission (CQC)

The CQC are the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England.

They make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care and encourage care services to improve.

Agencies that make Herefordshire a safer place

Community Safety Partnership

This multi-agency organisation is set up to tackle community safety and drug issues across the county, working together to make Herefordshire an even safer place to live, work and visit. 

They hold a statutory duty to undertake a Domestic Homicide Review when a person (over 16) is murdered either by an intimate partner or a member of their household.

Consumer Advice

You can find support and advice on how to deal with a range of consumer issues, including cold calling, doorstep selling and scams on the Herefordshire Council consumer advice pages.

West Mercia Women's Aid

A specialist service provider, staffed and managed by women, and working primarily with women and children, but also with men affected by domestic abuse, providing emotional and practical support to empower them to take control of their own lives.
